Just-Sailing- a non profit group providing accessible sailing, environmental and maritime education to kids and adults ages 10 and up at the Lighthouse at Lake Lenape in Mays Landing. Preregistration is suggested for all programs and events at www.just-sailing.org/calendar.
What do we offer?
The Maritime Education Program for community members in Southern New Jersey to learn about local maritime history, educates safe boaters through Boating Safety Courses, andprovides access to New Jersey’s waterways.
The Marine Science Program for school aged children to participate in water recreation activities and to engage in educational programming focusing on New Jersey waterways, local marine ecosystems, and research for the future preservation of the waterways and the habitats they provide.
The Accessible Sailing Program provides people, who have minimal autonomy in their lives with accessible equipment, education, and programming, without the typical costs associated with water recreation. It is in direct response to the growing number of young people with special needs and the current number of adults with disabilities and the lack of access to water recreation. The focus is slightly different at each level but the goal remains the same; empower the person to have the strength to move forward in his/her life.
Sailing takes place in various locations in Atlantic County, New Jersey. We are always looking for future sailors and volunteers. Please check our calendar for upcoming events. In order to provide people with ongoing access to water recreation and education programs we rely on others to volunteer and help donate in any way possible. Join us.
